Calmly bobbing up and down

On the water near Guidecca

Not so far from Venice town?

Would you like to be a seagull

Sitting peacefully and still

While tourists all go rushing by

As tourists always will?

Would you like to be a pigeon

In a San Marco’s busy square

Quaintly, stepping here

And stepping there

To find a crumb or two

Oh would you like to be a pigeon

In such a charming place

Where tourists come

And tourists go

As tourists always tend to do?
